A Melbourne man pointed a gun at his wife and children in an episode of domestic violence, police said.

Hector Colon III, 25, of the 1900 block of Post Road, was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated child abuse, theft of a firearm and battery domestic violence. He posted $65,000 bail at the Brevard County Thursday.

Colon’s wife told police he punched her twice in front of their two children in the kitchen of their home. He then reached for a 9mm handgun, which belongs to the wife, and ran to a bedroom, the arrest affidavit states.

The woman took the children and fled to a car, the report states. Colon stepped out of the home with the gun, she told police. Colon pounded on the driver’s side window with the gun and threatened to shoot, according to the affidavit. He then fled in a separate car, police said.
